Here are several photos of a nine day bike tour me and my daughter Maya did - 1-9 August, 2005. I have heard that on Italia is forming a powerful cyclone, which will expand to the east next days and interacting with the cooler air on mountains in the Balkan Region will result in 2-3 day powering rain, but I did not pay enough attention of the synoptic forecast, I was unable to appreciate the scale of the phenomenon. In our latitude natural calamities of this type and scale were unknown. So, I decided, that if we head against the wind - the strong east wind blowing at the 1st of August, it will help us to avoid the rain, which in the end came true to the big extend. So, in the late afternoon of the first of August me and Maya headed to a little town named Sapareva Banya (60 km south - east from Pernik) just to the highest mountain in the region - Rila mountain. We intended to cross it next day.
